BISHOP
Courage
In speaking of courage, I am especially grateful, in fact, in awe of the survivors of sexual abuse that I have been graced to walk with in these latter days of my priesthood.
All the lonely people
Our faith begins with the presence of a God who by nature is not alone.
We are not alone
Jesus is the true Light who has come into the world as he reveals to us in the scriptures. His living light is given to all believers, to dwell in them.
Serving God in the common good
The common good does not mean the greatest good for the greatest number.
Jesus our safe space
God’s love is personal within God’s very nature, and personal toward us.
Sacred space
Everyone who has been hurt by the Church needs to be heard, accompanied and, dare I say, welcomed with open heart and mind.
The Thomas in all of us
In many ways, Thomas is very much one of us or our contemporaries. He takes the scientific approach — the real scientific approach, not politicized or filtered through some ideological
How far?
How far can love go?
No limits
Learning to love requires us to suffer at times from the uncertainty as to whether our love will be returned.
We’ll leave the light on
Whatever may be the progress and outcome of Chapter 11, we will be here for all who seek comfort
Surprised by love
She had been missing the one thing in life that she needed. Every attempt to find it had failed. Until it found her!
Come home to my heart
Twice in the Gospels we hear of a voice descending from the heavens, acknowledging “his beloved Son.”
Trust in the Holy Spirit
God only desires that we grow daily into the image of his Son. The Holy Spirit gets us there.
A jolt of joy
If there is one consistent and unmistakably authentic theme that I felt wherever I went or with whomever we met in Nigeria, it was a deep and joyful faith, prayerful and public in its expression, and a real sense of community.
Celebrating joy
Being a priest has long been my greatest source of joy, now more than ever.
