Jesus, teach me to tell you everything that's on my mind, even things that are private! Amen.
"Even a sparrow can't die without God knowing about it," Jesus taught. "And you're worth more than a lot of sparrows! Every hair on your head matters to God. So let others know that you believe in God; then, I will be with you."
Lots of little kids don't have a thought in their minds that they don't share. They'll say anything, from asking about grownup words they don't understand (and probably shouldn't say) to sharing things they overheard that were really meant to be private. You can get a lot of information from talking to a little kid!
Sometimes, adults joke about "over-sharing:" talking too much about things the whole world doesn't need to know. But, in this week's Gospel (Mt 10:26-33), Jesus reminds us that it's not possible to over-share with God. You can tell Jesus anything and everything that's on your mind, because He already knows it anyway.
Little kids might talk about things that are private or aren't polite because they don't realize there are some things it's best to talk about just with your family and close friends or another trusted adult.
In the Gospel story, though, Jesus said that God knows everything about us already. If a tiny bird can't die without God knowing about it, then Jesus obviously knows every thought in your mind, every hope and dream you have and everything you worry about. Jesus even said that God knows every detail about you, right down to the number of hairs on your head!
If you get an urge to share things with more people than the trusted adults and friends in your life, talk to God. Jesus is a safe person to share everything with - and He wants to know all about you.
He promised that, if you trust Him, He'll be with you. It's impossible to over-share with Jesus![[In-content Ad]]
