Jack Heller has a passion for fine art photography and sacred spaces.
“I am moved by the spirituality resident in churches. Churches have historically been places of worship for society,” said Heller on the website photographyatelier.org/artist/jack-heller. “Many churches designed in the shape of a cross were built by immigrants to provide a place to meet and worship. Church architecture, stained glass, interior decorations and religious objects are considered artwork.”
Heller, who lives in Newport, R.I., and is a retired businessman, had asked Kathy Barrans, diocesan communications director, if he could photograph the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany on one of his visits to the Capital District. Barrans said yes and Heller, whose daughter and grandson live in Saratoga Springs, has graciously allowed his photographs to be featured in this edition of The Evangelist.
