NEW PASTORAL ASSIGNMENTS

Bishop Mark O’Connell is pleased to announce the following pastoral assignments:

Father Jay Atherton has been named rector of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and parochial vicar of Historic St. Mary’s on Capitol Hill, both in Albany, replacing Father Rendell Torres.


Father Pat Rice has been named pastor of Sacred Heart in Palenville, merged with Immaculate Conception in Haines Falls, and St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church in Windham, replacing Father Atherton.


Father Russell Bergman has been named pastor of Sacred Heart in Cairo, Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham and St. John the Baptist in Greenville, replacing Father Atherton. (The pastor of St. Patrick's in Athens, St. Patrick's in Catskill, St. Mary's in Coxsackie and St. Patrick's in Ravena in still to be determined).


Father Kyle Gorenski has been named pastor of St. Michael’s Church and Holy Trinity, both in Cohoes, replacing Father Brian Kelly.


Father Zachariah Chichester has been named pastor of Our Lady of Hope in Whitehall, St. Mary’s in Granville, St. Ann’s in Fort Ann and the Chapel of Assumption Mission  in Huletts Landing.


Father Nathaniel Resila has been named pastor of St. Stephen’s in Hagaman, St. Mary’s in Amsterdam, St. Cecilia’s in Fonda and Sacred Heart in Tribes Hill.


Father Charles Onyeneke has been named pastor of the Parish of Mater Christi and All Saints Church, both in Albany, replacing Father Daniel Quinn. (Father Quinn remains pastor of Blessed Sacrament and Our Lady of the Americas Shrine Church, both in Albany).


Father Daniel Vallejo-Rios has been named pastor of St. Francis of Assisi in Albany, replacing Father Torres.


Father Anthony Onu has been named pastor of Immaculate Conception in Glenville and

Our Lady of Grace in Ballston Lake, replacing Father Bergman.


All new assignments are effective July 1.
