'LITTLE AUDREY'

Local filmmaker brings inspiring story of faith to the big screen

After nearly a decade of development and production, Catholic Capital Region filmmaker Jeff Thomas will celebrate the world premiere of “Little Audrey” at the 2026 Woods Hole Film Festival on July 25.

Directed by Michael Mailer, son of acclaimed American author Norman Mailer, “Little Audrey” is inspired by the extraordinary life of Audrey Santo, a young Massachusetts girl whose tragic childhood accident left her profoundly disabled. During the years that followed, Audrey’s home became known to thousands of pilgrims who came seeking hope, prayer and healing. Many visitors reported witnessing extraordinary phenomena associated with her life, including accounts of bleeding and weeping religious statues, manifestations of the stigmata, reported Eucharistic phenomena, and other events that inspired many to deepen their faith in Christ and devotion to the Holy Eucharist.

A lifelong Catholic, Thomas devoted nearly 10 years to bringing Audrey’s story to the screen because he believes it is ultimately a story about God’s love, the redemptive value of suffering, hope in the midst of tragedy, and the power of faith. His hope is that audiences will leave the theater not only moved by the story, but also inspired to reflect more deeply on God’s presence in their own lives.

“Little Audrey is much more than a film,” said Thomas. “It is an invitation to encounter a story that has inspired countless people through faith, prayer, hope and perseverance. Whether someone has followed Audrey’s story for years or is hearing about it for the first time, my hope is that this film opens hearts and reminds people that God’s grace continues to work in extraordinary ways.”

The film stars Emily VanCamp, Jennifer Esposito, Aidan Quinn and Josh Bowman. The Woods Hole Film Festival is one of New England’s premier independent film festivals, and the selection of “Little Audrey” for its world premiere marks an important milestone for the people who helped bring this remarkable story to life.
