Welcome, Father Ernie!
The Diocese of Albany is happy to announce that Father Ernest “Ernie” Izummuo has joined our Faith Community. Bishop Mark has assigned him as parochial vicar to St. Clare’s in Colonie and Christ Our Light in Loudonville.
Father Ernest (shown in the photo with Bishop Mark (l.) and Father Robert Longobucco, Vicar General) is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Aba, Nigeria, who was ordained in 2011. With a deep commitment to shepherding God’s people, he brings a rich blend of pastoral care and practical wisdom to his ministry. Father Ernest holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology and an MBA. This unique academic background allows him to integrate spiritual guidance with an insightful understanding of the human mind and effective leadership strategies. Over the years, he has served in various pastoral and corporate roles while also applying his business acumen to support the strategic and administrative needs of the Church. Known for his compassionate heart and approachable nature, Father Ernest is passionate about working with families, the youth and the wider community through both their joys and challenges.
He is also an enthusiastic sports lover who enjoys basketball, football and soccer, believing that healthy recreation and teamwork help build strong, united communities. As he joins our parish family, Father Ernest looks forward to serving you with humility, joy and the love of Christ. He warmly invites everyone to approach him, share their lives and grow together in faith.
