LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
OPEN YOUR HEART
God’s blessings are meant to bring us closer to him, not to continue on our own path and do our own thing. Gratitude opens our eyes to more of God’s work in our lives strengthening our relationship with him. Your heart shall be blessed with such gratitude.
For those who don’t know the Lord are destined to repeat mistakes of the flesh. Those who perceive themselves as the center of the universe possess an extremely shallow understanding of the world. Thus, they shall always fall short of the glory God offers all.
I spent most of my life, a secular person. So I’m aware of these contrasting views of the world. God planned it that way. So the Bible would persuade me to change. The wisdom, truth I found in Scripture was more than enough to open my heart to Jesus.
You can too.

THE HOLY FAMILY AND AN AGENDA
In reading the Word of Faith: “The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph” by Father Anthony Ligato (on Dec. 25), I notice he refers to the Holy Family as refugees. And it’s not the first time in The Evangelist the Holy Family has been classified as such. Let’s be honest and transparent, and more trusting in God, than manipulating their flight. Why must the Holy Family be denigrated just to tip the scales in favor of an “agenda?”
The Holy Family were fugitives fleeing from the authorities that wanted the Baby dead. The whole known world was ruled under one authority — the Roman Empire. Their plight was like traveling from New York to New Jersey. No immigration involved. No refugee status. Just relocating. And another thing, the Holy Family was very much financially self-sufficient, after just receiving gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Please, please, show more respect and dignity for the plan of God and the Salvation of mankind through the Holy Family.
Respectfully,
Josephine Errichetto
