On Friday, Aug. 7, parishioners, families, staff and volunteers from St. Thomas the Apostle Church and School in Delmar, along with members of St. Lucy/St. Bernadette Parish in Altamont, gathered in the St. Thomas School gymnasium to celebrate a special milestone: Father Matthew Duclos’ five years of priesthood.
The evening was filled with music, stories, laughter and fellowship as the St. Thomas and St. Lucy/St. Bernadette communities came together to honor Father Matt and celebrate the many ways he has served and strengthened both parish communities.
A special thank you goes to Bishop Mark O’Connell, who joined the celebration and shared heartfelt remarks about Father Matt, highlighting his dedication and service to the Church. Bishop Mark also offered a special blessing for Father Matt, making the evening even more meaningful.
Throughout the night, attendees enjoyed music from DJ Matt Grant, some live music from Katie Adams and delicious treats generously donated by Cardona’s, Perfect Blend and members of the parish community. The gathering provided plenty of opportunities for friends and parishioners from both communities to celebrate, share memories and simply enjoy time together.
The celebration made it clear that the evening was about more than simply marking five years of priesthood. It was a celebration of faith, community, friendship and the lasting impact Father Matt has had on so many people throughout his ministry.
Congratulations to Father Matt on five wonderful years of priesthood! The St. Thomas and St. Lucy/St. Bernadette communities are grateful for his service, leadership and dedication, and we look forward to all that God has in store for him and our parish communities in the years ahead.
