Fonda

Pilgrimage of Hope for Creation to the Kateri Shrine (3636 NY-5, Fonda) from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Join us for the 10th anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical “Laudato Si’ ” and the 800th anniversary of St. Francis’ Canticle of Creation during the Jubilee Year of Hope. The shrine is a pilgrimage site for the jubilee. Some plans for the day: Stations of the Cross in Light of Laudato Si’, the Glorious Mysteries of Creation, a meditation walk to the spring where Kateri was baptized, a reflection by Melissa Miscevic Bramble, director, titled “St. Kateri — The Bride of Christ and Example for the Ages,” and a reflection by Terry, Algonquin nation, on “Native Spirituality and Catholicism.” The day ends with liturgy at 4:30 p.m.

Schenectady

St. John the Evangelist Church Rosary Society is holding a clothing sale from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the  parish center (806 Union St., please use the back parking lot door).  Clothes and shoes for men, women and children. Jewelry, too. There’s something for everyone.

Pet Blessings: In the spirit of St. Francis, the patron saint of animals, we invite you to bring your beloved pets — whether furry, feathered or scaly — for a blessing as we honor and love the companionship they provide. Services will be on Satur­day, Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. in St. Clare’s parking lot (1947 Central Ave.) and on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 11:30 a.m. at Christ Our Light in the parking lot (1 Maria Drive). Please ensure your pet is safely leashed or caged!

Life in the Spirit Seminar at Christ Our Light Church Parish Hall (1 Maria Drive) from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Join the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) on Saturday, Oct. 4, and Saturday, Oct. 11, for talks on salvation, a relationship with Jesus, guidance of the Holy Spirit and more! Out of the Darkness Walk for Suicide Prevention at Dutch­man’s Landing Park: The walk is free to attend, with donations welcome, to support suicide-prevention programming in Columbia and Greene counties. The event begins with a moving ceremony at 10 a.m., followed by the walk with your neighbors and friends. Drive-Thru Spaghetti Dinner at St. James Church (117 Hudson Ave.) from 10-2 p.m. The Knights of Columbus are hosting a drive-thru dinner pickup! Meals include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, dinner roll, beverage and a snack. Adults are $18; children under 12 are $8. Help support K of C’s annual program and good works. Little Falls

Kane Mountain Hike with Holy Family Parish: Join us for this beautiful fall hike! This is a relatively easy hike, about 1.5 miles. Please wear appropriate shoes. Families will meet at 2 p.m. in the parking lot of Holy Family Parish (9763 E. Main St.). We will carpool over to the mountain and will be back between 5-5:30 p.m. All participants will receive a Catholic sticker for their water bottle. Check-in and coffee at 8 a.m., welcome Mass starts at 9 a.m., and closing remarks at 3:30 p.m. Topics from the day include “Finding God in the Struggles and Joys of Daily Life” and “Pray as you can, not as you can’t.” Early registration is $40 per person until Oct. 6 and includes lunch. Chicken and Biscuit Dinner at Church of the Holy Spirit (153 S Main St.) from 5-7 p.m. in the Holy Spirit gym. Meal includes chicken and biscuits, mashed potatoes, a vegetable and dessert. Organized by the Youth Ministry Program, all proceeds go toward our upcoming trip to the National Catholic Youth Ministry Conference (NCYC).

The Corpus Christi Church Fall Festival will be held at Corpus Christi Church (2001 Route 9 and Ushers Road) on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 2, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Raffle baskets, Church Mice crafts, Rosary makers, and other specialty items will be available. Light breakfast and lunch items are available. Free admission and ample parking.
