Latham

Jam Session with the Latham Knights of Columbus (328 Troy Schenectady Road) starting at 7 p.m. We’re trying something different and new. Join us for our first Friday Night Jam Session, open to any musician who would like to stop in and join other musicians in playing their instruments. Tyler Senecal plays guitar and he will be the person with whom you will be playing tunes with the most. It doesn’t matter what music you play, we’re just looking for an evening of music. All skill levels welcome!

Clifton Park

Unleashing Love Women’s Conference at St. Edward the Confessor Church (569 Clifton Park Center Road): Join us for a day of talks, prayer and women empowerment! Check-in and coffee at 8 a.m., welcome Mass starts at 9 a.m., and closing remarks at 3:30 p.m. Topics from the day include “Finding God in the struggles and joys of daily life” and “Pray as you can, not as you can’t.” College-age and younger women are free but must register. Chicken and Biscuit Dinner at the Church of the Holy Spirit (153 S. Main St.) from 5-7 p.m. in the Holy Spirit gym. Meal includes chicken and biscuits, mashed potatoes, a vegetable and dessert. Takeout only! Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased at the parish office or by calling the office at (518) 725-3143. Organized by the Youth Ministry Program, all proceeds go toward our upcoming trip to the National Catholic Youth Ministry Conference (NCYC).

Family Movie Matinee with Holy Family Parish at Valley Cinemas (20 Albany St.) at 1 p.m. Come join us at the Valley Cinemas for a fun afternoon at the movies! The movie is free and concessions will be available for purchase. The featured movie is “The Incredibles” (PG).

Historic St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church (600 State St.) is announcing the Anointing of the Sick Ritual, as part of its weekend Masses, on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the 5:30 p.m. Mass and on Sunday, Oct. 19, at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. This comforting and healing sacrament uses the sacred oil of the sick as a symbol of God’s rich and lasting care for us. The anointing is done for those who have an incurable disease, anyone facing surgery, those who are experiencing a relapse after getting well, and persons with difficulties related to advanced age and those with emotional illness. In addition, those who are ill and anyone over the age of 60 are encouraged to receive this anointing. The public is cordially invited. More information is available by calling 374-4466, ext. 13.

A teaching Mass will be offered at 5:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Church. This is a regular Catholic Mass. Father Kyle Gorenski will celebrate the Mass and stop at key moments in the Mass to provide an explanation of why we do what we do during Mass. This Mass fulfills the Sunday obligation. A Knights of Columbus meatloaf dinner fundraiser will be held at Our Lady of Fatima (1735 Alexander Road) from 5 p.m. until sold out. Complete meatloaf dinner includes whipped potatoes, mixed vegetables, bread and dessert. Beverages are included if you eat in. The cost to eat in or take out is $12.

Trunk or Treat at St. Paul the Apostle Church (2777 Albany St.) from 1-4 p.m. in the church parking lot. Come join the spooky fun! Come trick-or-treating, or decorate your car for Halloween and help pass out candy. The trick-or-treaters will vote for the best-decorated vehicle, and the winner will receive a $50 Market 32 gift card. Donations of candy, packages of crackers, or cookies that are appropriate Halloween treats may be dropped off in the gathering space before or after Masses at St. Paul’s by Oct. 26. Requiem: What Remains Is Love Concert at St. Luke’s Church (1241 State St.) at 7 p.m. Join us for the fourth annual performance of Requiem at St. Luke’s in honor of All Souls Day.
