SATURDAY, MAY 10

Gloversville

Ziti and Meatball Dinner at Holy Spirit Church (151 South Main St.) from 5-7 p.m. in the church gym. Our youth takeout only. Donation: $10 for adults and $8 for kids 10 and under. Tickets are available in the parish office.

Cobleskill

Chicken & Ribs BBQ: The Knights of Columbus Council 4475 will hold a Chicken & Ribs BBQ at Noble Ace Hardware (783 E Main St.), beginning at 11 a.m. until sold out. Chicken dinner is $15 and rib dinner is $17. Dinners include coleslaw, baked potato and a roll. Barbecue Delights will cook. Proceeds will support the youth ministry at Our Lady of the Valley Church and a local seminarian.

TUESDAY, MAY 13

Glenville

Monthly Meeting of the Rosary Altar Society at Immaculate Conception Church (400 Saratoga Road) at 6:30 p.m. in the Flicker Room. After recitation of the Rosary, there will be a brief business meeting, followed by a talk from Sister Susan Zemgulis from the Dominican Retreat and Conference Center. We are also collecting donations for Birthright. Requested items are diapers (size 4-5-6), baby wipes, outfits and sleepers (size NB-9 months), and onesies (size NB-2T).

Averill Park

Diabetes Support Group at St. Henry’s Church (39 Old Route 66) at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room. The topic for the meeting is “Spring is Here!” Tips on keeping your skin healthy from the sun and bugs. Come and get your free health monitor magazine and share your favorite outdoor tips. Everyone is invited to attend, whether you are diabetic, live with or love someone who is diabetic, or if you simply are interested in a healthy lifestyle. The wisdom of the group is amazing! Tag Sale at Immaculate Conception Church (400 Saratoga Road) for the Rosary Altar Society: We will be accepting items for donation through May 14, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., as well as from 6-8 p.m. on May 8, 9 and 12. Your donations are greatly appreciated; however, there are a few items we cannot accept as we do not have the means to dispose of them. These include: electronics, TVs, shoes, homemade DVDs, videotapes, out-of-season clothing, baby strollers and cribs, large pieces of furniture, or previously worn undergarments.

Hybrid Women’s Theme Retreat at the Dominican Retreat & Conference Center (1945 Union St.) and via Zoom at 7:45 p.m. Our retreats offer time away from daily routine for rest, quiet, learning and reflection, inner healing, growth, prayer and sharing. Special Anointing Mass at Immaculate Conception Church (400 Saratoga Road) at 11 a.m., followed by lunch. All are invited to a special Mass where the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be administered. This healing sacrament is for all those experiencing any challenge in body, mind or spirit, young or old, homebound or not. A luncheon will be served in the parish hall after the 11 a.m. Mass. Women’s Meal hosted by the Albany Chapter of Magnificat at Wolferts Roost Country Club (120 Van Rensselaer Blvd.) from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Our witness speaker is Viviane Strain. Raised as a Maronite Catholic, she emigrated from Egypt as a teenager with her family in 1968 to escape religious persecution. In her 30s, she surrendered her life to God and ministered within the church, becoming a catechist, a Catholic girls club leader, and the kickstarter for the Schenectady 40 Days for Life campaign. She led 23 campaigns until becoming the caregiver for her late husband, Bob. She is a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Register by Wednesday, June 4.
