Catholic Charities opens new Schoharie County office
A bright, spacious facility in Richmondville is the new Schoharie County home for Catholic Charities of Delaware, Otsego, and Schoharie Counties. A grand opening event, including building tours, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony (see photo), was held at the facility on June 9.
The new space, located at 1445 State Route 7, is designed to expand vital services for individuals and families in the region. The location features private offices for client consultations and counseling, a food pantry, welcoming activity rooms and an on-site thrift shop.
Programs offered at the location include, but are not limited to, an emergency assistance program called Caring Connections, a child-at-risk response team, counseling and clinical support services, housing assistance, crime victim services, residential and non-residential domestic violence services, a dispute resolution center, aging life services, and a Nutrition Outreach and Education Program (NOEP).
“This space represents more than just a building — it’s a renewed commitment to meeting people where they are,” said Executive Director Christy Houck. “We’re excited to provide a warm, welcoming environment where individuals can find support, resources and a sense of community.”
Hours of operation for the new facility are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Fridays, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. (closed for lunch every day from 12:30-1:30 p.m.). The thrift shop, open year-round, operates Wednesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The food pantry is open Mondays through Wednesdays, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and Thursdays, 3-6 p.m. Appointments are preferred, but not necessary as walk-ins and those in an emergency situation are always welcome.
