St. Mary’s School in Waterford needs your help!

On Dec. 19, the school was impacted by local floods, which affected the first floor of the building and in particular the pre-school classes. The school will need to replace everything in those classrooms, including pre-K appropriate toys, books, play kitchens, etc. When the school is fully cleaned, there will be a drop-off day announced if anyone would like to donate items.

To contribute financially to help with the insurance deductible and replacing items not covered, you can send a check to the school (St. Mary’s School, 12 6th St., Waterford, N.Y., 12188) with “school flood” in the memo or contribute at the following link: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/st-marys-flood-relief-fund.

“St. Mary’s truly appreciates the incredible outpouring of love, prayers, support and generosity from our families, parishioners, alumni, neighbors and friends near and far. In moments like this, we are reminded that St. Mary’s is so much more than a building — it is a faith-filled community rooted in compassion, service, and unity,” said St. Mary's Principal Alexandra Morazan.

“From the countless messages of encouragement, to the offers of help, to the generosity shown in so many ways, we are deeply grateful. Your kindness has lifted our spirits and strengthened our resolve as we move forward together. We are truly blessed to be part of such an amazing, caring, and supportive network, and we carry that gratitude with us each step of the way. Thank you for standing with St. Mary’s — your love means more than words can express.”“In the face of unexpected flooding at St. Mary’s School in Waterford, Principal Alexandra Morazan has shown remarkable leadership, calm, and compassion in the management of the crisis,” said Dr. Christopher Bott, Superintendent of Schools for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany. “Her clear communication, focused coordination of recovery efforts, and care for our students reflect the very best of Catholic school leadership. We are deeply grateful for her dedication to the St. Mary’s community.”
