Special First Friday Devotional Services will be held at St. Joseph’s Church (600 State St., on the corner of State and Lafayette Streets) following the 12:15 p.m. Mass. In the past, the proceeds from this event benefited Mater Christi School in Albany. With the inception this year of the Education Fund, we will be extending the allocation of the funds to additional schools associated with the Diocese for the purpose of advancing Catholic education. Pilgrimage of Hope for Creation to the Kateri Shrine (3636 NY-5, Fonda) from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Join us for the 10th anni­versary of Pope Francis’ encycli­cal “Laudato Si’ ” and the 800th anniversary of St. Francis’ Canticle of Creation during the Jubilee Year of Hope. The shrine is a pilgrimage site for the jubilee. Some plans for the day: Stations of the Cross in Light of Laudato Si’, the Glorious Mysteries of Creation, a meditation walk to the spring where Kateri was baptized, a reflection by Melissa Miscevic Bramble, director, titled “St. Kateri — The Bride of Christ and Example for the Ages,” and a reflection by Terry, Algonquin nation, on “Native Spirituality and Catholicism.” The day ends with liturgy at 4:30 p.m.
