Life Chain Sunday with the Society of Our Lady of Guadalupe, held on the public sidewalk on Central Avenue (Route 5), near the Wolf Road intersection at Colonie Center shopping mall, from 2-3 p.m. Join us to stand in silent, prayerful witness to the sanctity of pre-born human life. The 52nd Annual Diocesan Marriage Jubilee Celebration at Christ Our Light Catholic Church (1 Maria Drive) at 3 p.m. Couples celebrating their 25th, 40th, 50th or other special wedding anniversaries are invited to attend this celebration. Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger will celebrate the Mass at 3 p.m. and greet couples and their guests at a reception in the parish hall immediately following Mass. Catholic Central School’s Centennial Golf Tournament at Albany Country Club (300 Wormer Road, Voorheesville). The Catholic Central School Centennial Year celebrations continue with our golf tournament. Fee is $160 per golfer (18 holes, cart, lunch and dinner). FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4

Schenectady

First Friday Devotional Service at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church (600 State St) will follow the 12:15 p.m. Mass. There will be Devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, including exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. All are welcome. The church is handicapped accessible and parking is available behind the church. The Blessing of the Animals: All animals, big and small, alive and stuffed, can receive this annual blessing in honor of St. Francis, the lover of animals. Donations of dog/cat food for the Animal Protective Founda­tion will be greatly appreciated. Join us in the church parking lot! Friday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. at Immaculate Conception (400 Saratoga Road, Glenville), Saturday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph’s (231 Second St., Scotia), and Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace (73 Midline Road, Ballston Lake).

Cohoes Area Nocturnal Adoration Society Service from 7-8 p.m., the first Saturday of every month, at Holy Trinity Church (122 Vliet Blvd.). “Could you not, then, watch one hour with me?”  

Glens Falls

Patriotic Degree Ceremony hosted by the Knights of Columbus Glens Falls Council #194 at St. Mary’s Academy (10-12 Church St.) at 1 p.m. The event will open to all 3rd Degree members of the KOC, as well as all 4th Degree Sir Knights. There will also be a separate women’s program for the wives of Sir Knight candidates and guests. After the ceremony, we will parade from St. Mary’s Academy to St. Mary’s Church for evening Mass at 4 p.m. Following Mass, all of the newly exemplified Sir Knights will participate in a public “Knighting” Ceremony where they will be officially “knighted” and become full 4th Degree Sir Knights. The event will conclude with a dinner at the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls.

Backpack Blessing at Christ our Light Catholic Church (1 Maria Drive) at 10 a.m. Bring your backpack to the 10 a.m. Mass for a special blessing and help us bless our catechists and all who help our young parishioners for Faith Formation.

Harvest Festival at Sacred Heart Church (15 Liberty St.) Join us for a weekend of fall fun! Festival runs Friday, Oct. 11, 9 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 12, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. We’ll have games, a silent auction, and a haunted house by the local Boy Scouts. Don’t forget the food! Bus Trip to Resorts Casino with the Sacred Heart Women’s Group: The Sacred Heart Women’s Group is hosting an event open to the public!
