Health Care Worker and Respect Life Month Mass
Gathering together to pray our intentions at Mass is a practice of hope, a practice of faith and for many a comfort. This year the Mass to pray for Health Professionals and Respect Life Month will join our prayers on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. at the Parish of Mater Christi, located at 40 Hopewell St. in Albany. Hosted by the Diocese of Albany and the Albany Catholic Medical Guild, this natural collaboration of the faithful has been a wonderful event for our Diocese over the years.
The Mass celebrates and supports the dedication of health care workers. Doctors, nurses, pharmacists and all health care professionals are invited to attend as we ask God’s blessing for our work. Family, friends and the public are also encouraged to attend to help pray for, support and celebrate our health care community. The Mass gathers the faithful under the patronage of St. Luke who is mentioned in the Pauline scriptures as a physician.
In anticipation of October being Respect Life Month, the Mass also provides Catholics across the Diocese the opportunity to come together to witness to the inherent equality and transcendent value of every human being. During the Mass, we give thanks to God for the gift of human life and pray for His guidance and blessings on our efforts to defend the most vulnerable members of the human family.
Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger will be the primary celebrant. This Mass fulfills the Sunday Mass obligation. For more information, please email [email protected].
