Annual Italian Christmas Market at the American Italian Heritage Association & Museum (227 Central Ave.) Open Friday, Dec. 6, and Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 8, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Come see the traditional Italian nativity scene of the Lord on display by artist Joseph Anastasio. Sixteenth Annual Candlelight Memorial Service at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church (115 Reid St.) at 6:45 p.m., sponsored by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Our Lady of Hope Church. Held in honor of the worldwide Candle Lighting event, this ecumenical gesture unites family and friends who light candles for one hour to honor and remember children who have died at any age from any cause. As candles burn down in one time zone, they are then lit in the next, creating a virtual 24-hour wave of light. Refreshments and fellowship will be available after the service. Way of the Star Event at St. Thomas the Apostle Church (35 Adams Place) at 6 p.m. (following the 5 p.m. Mass). Be sure to attend this wonderful, family-friendly event about the Infancy Narratives in preparation for the birth of Jesus at Christmas. The event will include stunning visual images, incredible music, and a period of Eucharistic adoration at the end. Participants will be guided through five “stations” or familiar scenes from the Infancy Narratives. Each mediation will begin with the reading of a short reflection and Scripture. Christmas Concert “Sounds of the Season” at the Church of the Holy Spirit (151 South Main St.) at 3 p.m. The concert is free to all who wish to attend. Free will donations will be accepted. Featured musicians will be Father Matt and Kyle Zimmerman on trumpet, Paul Whitney and Bob Cline on guitar, and Kathy Sponenberg and Sam Zimmerman on keyboard. “Midnight at Nine” at Holy Spirit Parish Hall (151 South Main St.). Come and enjoy dinner and ring in the New Year with us! Mass will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres and social hour begin at 5 p.m. followed by dinner. Donations are $20 for adults, $10 for kids 10 and under. Tickets are available at the parish office. Only 75 tickets will be sold. No tickets will be sold at the door.
