Lenten Stations and Soup 2024 at St. Margaret of Cortona Church (1228 Main St.) at 6 p.m. Join us on Thursday evenings during Lent (Feb. 22, 29, March 7, 14 and 21) for praying the Stations of the Cross followed by a soup supper. All are welcome!

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 23 

Albany

Nurses Stations of the Cross at Christ the King Church (20 Sumter Ave.) at 7 p.m. in the church, hosted by the church Visitation Ministry. We will walk the stations of the cross with modern-day caregivers who lovingly give of themselves to their patients who are suffering and dying. This is a meaningful way to deepen your Lenten experience!

Bolton Landing 

Canvas & Cocoa at Church of the Blessed Sacrament (7 Goodman Ave.) from 6-8 p.m., organized by the Lake George Catholic Outreach (ages 18-39.) Cost is $12. Pizza will be served. This group is doing a clothing drive for the North Country Ministry for children. For information, call (518) 644-3861.

Senior Tuesday: Breakfast for Lunch at St. Mary’s Crescent Church (86 Church Hill Road) at 1 p.m. Seniors, you are invited to “breakfast for lunch” in the church hall. Bring a breakfast food that you enjoy and share it with other senior parishioners and community neighbors. Unable to bring breakfast food? Come anyway! Your presence is the most important part of the meal. We hope to see you there!

Young Adult Lenten Series: Join Capital Region Catholic (ages 21-39) for a 6-week for a special series about Lent, Lenten practices, and how we can intentionally honor the sacrifice of Jesus through this season. Every Wednesday (Feb. 21 - March 27) at 7 p.m., join us via Zoom (link advertised in the Albany Diocese Discord server or via email) or in person at St. Thomas the Apostle School Library (42 Adams Place). If you have children, please note that to attend in person you will need childcare or you can attend online for simplicity and ease.

The Theology of the Eucharist at Christ the King Church (20 Sumter Ave.) at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Knights Chapel. What is the Eucharist? What do words like transubstantiation, substance, and accidents mean when applied to the Eucharist? What is the scriptural basis for the Eucharist? How does Catholic theology about the Eucharist differ from the beliefs of other religions? And how will these questions help me grow in love for the gift that is the Body and Blood of Jesus? These are some of the topics in Father Matthew Duclos’ talk as we proceed through the Year of Eucharistic Revival. Lenten Fish Dinner at St. Mary’s Our Lady of the Lake (31 Elm St.) from 5-7 p.m. Catered by Mel’s at 22. Cost is a freewill donation. First Saturday Rosary Devotion at St. Mary’s Church (185 Milton Ave.) at 3 p.m. Please join us to pray the Rosary as Our Lady has requested at Fatima, Portugal. We will be meditating on the Luminous Mysteries of the Holy Rosary.

Evening of Song and Lenten Retreat at St. Vincent de Paul Church (900 Madison Ave.) Join us on Friday, March 22 for Evening of Song at 7 p.m. and a Lenten Retreat on Saturday, March 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Composer Dan Schutte, whose music includes “Here I Am, Lord,” and approximately 160 other hymns, will lead the Evening of Songs and the Lenten Retreat.
