Middle Eastern art exhibit — “Beauty in a Land of Conflict” — at St. Michael’s Church, 80 Saratoga Ave. (Route 9), on the ground floor of the former school. Exhibit hours are 9 a.m.-7 p.m. An opening reception will be held on Oct. 27 from 4-7 p.m. Admission to the exhibit is free. View more than 40 paintings by 12 refugee artists from the Middle East, many of whom trained and worked professionally in Baghdad. The paintings reflect their ancient Mesopotamian heritage as well as North American influences. Most of the proceeds from the sale of paintings go to the refugee artists and their families; a small amount is given to Common Humanity, the not-for-profit that organized the exhibit. Also on sale will be posters, blank notecards with images of the art, and souvenirs from the region.
