The Catholic Central School boys’ basketball team had no problem in its Class B state quarterfinal, easing past Potsdam, 72-34, at Hudson Valley Community College on March 11.
Conor Gemmill had a team-high 12 points for the Crusaders and Darien Moore (11), Aidan Prunty (10), Sei’Mir Roberson (nine) and Nick Riley (nine) all contributed to the easy win.
CCS plays in the state semifinals against Southampton at 9 a.m., on March 18 at Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls. If CCS (24-1) wins, they will take on the winner of Newark-Westhills on March 19 at 1 p.m. in Glens Falls in the state final.
The Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons girls’ basketball team defeated Seton Catholic, 37-30, on March 11 in a Class D state quarterfinal at Hudson Valley Community College.
Junior Mia’Rose Wylie had a game-high 11 points and Angie Dietz added nine points for the Golden Knights. The Golden Knights will now play Oxford Academy in the state semifinals at 10:45 a.m., on March 18 at HVCC. If NDBG (15-7) wins, they would play in the championship game on March 19 at 10 a.m. at HVCC.
