Blessed Sacrament School in Albany took fourth place in the recent Future City Engineering Competition, marking the first time the team has placed in the top five. And they were just a half point out of third place with their project titled “Sandi Winds.”

According to the website futurecity.org: “The competition was made up of teams of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who developed a futuristic city based on the theme of the year. This year, teams tackled the Climate Change Challenge by choosing a climate change impact and designing one innovative and futuristic climate change adaptation and one mitigation strategy to keep their residents healthy and safe. These teams wrote an essay, created a model to scale, provided a project plan and presented to judges on their futuristic city at this event.”
