FAITH AND ART
St. Thomas the Apostle Parish’s Faith Formation/Youth Ministry Programs and School Art program in Delmar collaborated to develop its first “Lenten Museum: Faith and Art.”
Exhibit areas were located throughout the church, chapel and gathering area. The seven areas consisted of Scripture reflection, QR codes to video clips, and exhibit pieces. With input from the Youth Ministry CORE Team, exhibits were designed to give both young people and adults an opportunity to prayerfully reflect on our Lord’s passion and love for us.
Works of art created by Faith Formation students during the church’s annual Prayer and Paint, along with unique sand art by students at the parish school, provided a more personal way of observing Lent and Holy Week. Students also wrote a passage (shown under the photos) about what inspired them to create their art.
On the photo of Jesus with the cross, Lucia, a seventh-grade Faith Formation student, said: “I drew this to represent the courage and determination and bravery that Jesus found during His persecution. It reminds me to offer up my struggles during Lent and beyond.”
