The contest focuses on Father Peyton’s famous message: “The family that prays together stays together.” This year’s theme — “The Holy Family” — will help you and your family explore how the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph can inspire you and intercede for you as you strive to be the family that God created you to be. Through family prayer, especially the Rosary, Mary will show you how your family can respond to God’s unique call to be a channel of His love and light in the world. Discover how the presence of Jesus, Mary and Joseph can transform your family life!
Children in grades K-12 enrolled in a Catholic school, religious education program, parish, or other organization, including home school, are eligible to enter. Entries will be judged on content, ability to capture and interpret the theme, artistic and technical proficiency, and adherence to rules. Entries can be submitted in four categories: prose, poetry, artwork and video. The deadline is Feb. 25. For more information, go to familyrosary.org/tryprayer.
Irish-born Father Peyton (1909-92), a media pioneer, was declared “Venerable” by Pope Francis in 2017. Known as the “rosary priest,” he served families worldwide by inspiring them to pray together daily.
The Vatican Congregation for Saints’ Causes granted Valentina Culurgioni the mandate to serve as the postulator, who is responsible for managing a cause through the Catholic Church’s canonization process. She succeeds Andrea Ambrosi, a civil and canon lawyer in Rome, who retired as postulator.
“We are so pleased with the appointment of Valentina Culurgioni as postulator of Father Peyton’s cause,” said Holy Cross Father Wilfred Raymond, president of Holy Cross Family Ministries, based in Easton, Mass. “Valentina is a woman of intelligence, talent and devout faith. She brings much to this important role.”
Holy Cross Family Ministries continues the mission of Father Peyton by inspiring, promoting and fostering the prayer life and spiritual well-being of families throughout the world. The organization includes Family Rosary — which Father Peyton founded in Albany in 1942, with the goal of building family unity through daily prayer of the Rosary — Family Theater Productions, Catholic Mom, the Museum of Family Prayer, Father Peyton Family Institutes and the Peyton Institute for Domestic Church Life.
