St. Michael’s original goal was to make 10 beds, but along with the support of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill and other businesses, the parish raised $8,000 and built an amazing 32 beds. “We were really happy with the support from our parishioners,” said JoAnn Taylor, who along with her husband, Steve, are the interim faith formation directors at St. Michael the Archangel. “It was a big group effort that turned out very successful.” The other local businesses that supported the event included: Paolo Lombardi’s Restaurant, Moscatiello’s Restaurant, Route 4 Pizza, Pellegrino’s Importing, Curtis Printing and Worthington Florist.
Taylor said the parish had been fundraising all year through bake sales, an ice cream social and donations from parishioners. The event was so successful that the parish plans to make this an annual event and has already booked Aug. 19, 2023 for next year.
“We are committed to living our lives as Jesus lived his,” Taylor said. “Our parish thrives on helping others. We are thrilled that 32 children will now have a bed thanks to this venture.”
