Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger celebrated the annual White Mass for Health Care Workers on Oct. 2 in the Coliseum church at the Our Lady of Martyr’s Shrine in Auriesville. Doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other health-care professionals were invited to attend the liturgy, which was co-sponsored by the St. Luke’s Guild and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany. The White Mass — named for the color worn by those in the medical profession — gathers health-care professionals under the patronage of St. Luke to ask for God’s blessing on patients, doctors, nurses and caregivers alike.
