Members of the Knights of Columbus, Peter A. Conte Sr., Council #5419, refurbished a number of rooms at St. Joseph’s Parish in Worcester to create a Catholic Library. They also collected more than $500 to purchase labels and materials for building bookshelves and CD and DVD holders. The project was spearheaded by Deputy Grand Knight Vincent Moreno, who collected, cleaned and labeled more than 200 books, CDs and DVDs.
Moreno also developed a system for parishioners to easily check out and return the items. One of the rooms has a small kitchen where parishioners can make coffee or tea to enjoy while they browse the selections, read a book, listen to a CD or watch a DVD. Moreno thanked the members of the council and stated, “Your support has enabled the establishment and running of one of the finest, most comprehensive Catholic libraries in the local area!” The Knights would be very appreciative of any donated items for the library.
