The following is a schedule of liturgies for Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger of Albany for Holy Week, which marks the end of the Lenten season, and for Easter, which commemorates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Sunday, March 28, 11 a.m.
Palm Sunday Mass, Bishop presiding.
Tuesday, March 30, 7 p.m.
Chrism Mass, Bishop presiding. The bishop will bless three oils — the oil of catechumens, the oil of the infirm, and holy chrism — which will be used in the administration of the sacraments throughout the Diocese in the year ahead.
Holy Thursday, April 1, 5:30 p.m.
Mass of the Lord’s Supper, Bishop presiding. After this liturgy, the Eucharist will be reserved for adoration and quiet prayer until 8:30 p.m.
Good Friday, April 2, 5:30 p.m.
Solemn Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion and Death, Bishop presiding.
Holy Saturday, April 3, 8 p.m.
Solemn Vigil of Easter, Bishop presiding. The new fire will be kindled, the proclamation of the Exsultet, the Liturgy of the Word, reception of new members into the Church, and the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Easter Sunday, April 4, 11 a.m.
Easter Mass, Bishop presiding.
