Vacation Bible School

For the first time, Christ the King Parish in Albany offered a Vacation Bible School (VBS) on July 26-30, from 10 a.m. to noon each day. The theme was “Superhero Saints.” Children entering preschool through Grade 5 enjoyed faith-themed activity stations such as “Create with the Saints” (arts and crafts), “Saint Sightings” (videos and journaling), “Devotion in Motion” (outdoor games) and “Holy Heroes” (service projects). Each day began with singing, dancing and hand motions as well as the introduction of a new saint.

Teen volunteers led the activity stations and adults served as crew leaders. Among the crafts were Holy Trinity shamrocks for St. Patrick, faith bracelets for St. Kateri Tekakwitha and shields for St. Michael the Archangel.

Service projects included decorating handmade cards to thank the Westmere Fire Department, creating beaded bracelets for children in local hospitals, and making origami paper cranes that displayed each VBS word of the day. We look forward to Vacation Bible School being a favorite summer tradition at Christ the King!
