Maria, Siena to host virtual talk for Mercy Week
Sister Ilia Delio, OSF and a noted theologian, will be the keynote virtual speaker on Monday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m., for Mercy Week, which is co-sponsored by the Siena College and Maria College Mission Offices. The discussion — “A Hunger for Wholeness: Greening the Earth and the Fecundity of Life” — will be centered around finding unity in a world where humans have become isolated from nature.
Sister Ilia asks: Can we reconnect to the earth in a world driven by technology? Can we see the world in its truth and beauty in a world blinded by consumerism?
At the center of the talk will be French idealist philosopher and Jesuit Catholic priest Teilhard de Chardin’s vision and the way he saw Christianity at the heart of evolution. Above all else, this talk will demonstrate the necessity and power of God’s love in renewing the earth and finding wholeness in a world of constant change. Sister Ilia is a world-renowned speaker and writer who holds the Josephine C. Connelly Chair in Christian Theology at Villanova University and has authored over 20 books.
