IMMIGRATION DEBATE
Your recent story regarding the illegal immigrant problem (Feb. 11) clearly shows how badly malformed consciences lead to badly misguided policies both by the Biden administration and certain bishops and clergy. President Trump established immigration policies reflecting the adherence to the rule of law, while Biden and his cohorts see it strictly as a move for political power. From a Catholic perspective, I say to the misguided bishops and clerics: “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” Obey the immigration laws of this nation first, then show your compassion.

STOP DEMONIZING
Since we can’t know what motivates other people and can even be mistaken about our own motives, let’s stop demonizing those who disagree with us.
It doesn’t help when we, rightly seeking to preserve the lives of unborn babies, attempt to punish the president, whose conscience has led him to a different conclusion, by demanding that he be denied Holy Communion rather than dialoguing with him. People can change. This was understood by St. John Paul II, who gave communion to the pro-choice mayor of Rome.
The sacraments aren’t rewards for being good, but a means to that end.

CATHOLIC POLICIES
If you want more Catholic policies, encourage Catholic Democrats not to vote Democratic. They already told everyone they were pro-abortion. What’s the surprise? Ask the Little Sisters of the Poor.
