With the help of the faithful of the Diocese of Albany, The Evangelist raised $1,645 for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany through the sale of reusable bags. The sale started in March just as New York State was starting to shut down because of COVID-19 and continued through the spring and summer. “Even after all these months, I am still amazed at the generosity of the people in the Diocese,” said Mike Matvey, editor of The Evangelist. “I am so happy that this money will further the mission of Catholic Charities.” In the socially-distance photo, Matvey (l.) hands the check over to Vincent W. Colonno, chief executive officer of Catholic Charities in Albany. (Eileen Spath photo)
