Rose Marie Bazan celebrated her 100th birthday on May 22, and continues to keep herself busy with her interests, family and faith.
A graduate of St. Mary’s School in Glens Falls, Bazan began her career as the ultimate caregiver, a registered nurse. She met Stephen Bazan and celebrated 46 years of marriage with him. Together they had six children: Gene, Barbara, Lori, Tom, Jackie and Rob. Bazan now has nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and a sibling who is 98 years old.
In addition to her career and raising her family, Bazan ran her family business, Maple Grove Picnic Area on the Great Sacandaga Lake. To this day, she still enjoys gardening and cooking. An active, registered member of St. Joseph’s Church in Broadalbin, Bazan considers her parish a second family. She is a member of various church committees and is always ready to volunteer to do more. She loves her parish priest, Father Anastacio “Jun” Segura, so much that she always brings special snacks to the parish office. It is her intention to take good care of “Father Jun.”
“Rose is a very loving and generous person,” Father Segura said. “It is always a pleasure to see Rose.”
Bazan has just renewed her driver’s license keeping her active and calls herself a “queen bee” because she is always busy. When asked her secret to living to 100, she simply said, “Keep moving!” Have a blessed 100th birthday, Rose.
