Bishop Scharfenberger will bless and help distribute food at Pastoral Center on Monday
Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger will be at the Pastoral Center on Monday, May 11, to provide a blessing and help distribute food during Catholic Charities’ latest food drop.
Bishop Scharfenberger will be at the center at 8 a.m as Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany teams up with the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York to host a mass food distribution. The food distribution is a part of Catholic Charities’ mobile outreach initiative, CC MOVE, and is an effort to provide supplemental and emergency food at a time when many are struggling.
Food items provided by the Regional Food Bank will be pre-packaged by staff and volunteers, and distribution will begin in the parking lot of Pastoral Center at 9:30 a.m. In order to maintain appropriate safety and social distancing, there will be two distribution lines: a drive-through line, and a walk-in line. Walkers can enter the lot through the North Main entrance, while drivers are asked to use the entrance on Western Ave. Due to traffic concerns, guests are asked not to arrive prior to the 9:30 start time.
Catholic Charities served over 1,300 individuals across 435 households at its most recent food distribution in Albany on April 16. They expect to see a similar need on Monday.
