The Diocese of Albany Vicariate for Catholic Faith Formation and Education is hosting a virtual spring program titled “Are We Missing the Mark? Forming Disciples in Today’s Church & in the Covid-19 Reality.”
This free event will take place on Wednesday, May 13, from 7-9 p.m. or Thursday, May 14, from 2-4 p.m., on Google Zoom. The guest speaker is Rich Curran.
Curran is founder and executive director of Parish Success Group, a non-profit organization that develops professional and organizational skills for leaders in Catholic ministry (www.parishsuccessgroup.com). Over the past 25 years, he has served as a parish youth and Catechetical minister, the diocesan director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Diocese of Green Bay, consultant to several publishers and is a member of the board of directors for various organizations. For the past five years, Curran has traveled the United States as a professional speaker and offered training and coaching services for dioceses, churches and schools.
For this event, Curran will lead participants to:
Better understand what the Church has been asking us to do
Assess their efforts at forming disciples – individually and as a parish
Explore what an “apprenticing model” of formation might look like
Assess parish-wide structures and priorities for improvement
Identify skills and talents needed for paid and volunteer formation team members
How to design a measurable formation program
Identify where to begin back at their own parish.
