Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons High School in Schenectady held a prayer service and flag installation Wednesday to honor the memories of those who died during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. This year marks the 18th anniversary of the attacks which killed 2,996 people and injured more than 6,000.
“The purpose of the flag install was to create a powerful visual statement that would commemorate the 18th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks and the 2,996 individuals that lost their lives," said Kiante Jones, principal at ND-BG. "This tribute really shows how many lives were lost, and the after effects even 18 years later of just how many families were touched by 9/11.”
"None of our students were alive when this happened," Moran said. "So keeping alive this tragic part of our history in remembrance, is a big part of our history."
