Scout’s Honor

Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and American Heritage Girls enjoyed the Annual Scouting Retreat, sponsored by the Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting, at Our Lady of Martyrs Shrine at Auriesville on Saturday. The day-long retreat ended with a Mass which was presided over by Bishop Howard Hubbard, who also awarded religious emblems, left and below, to those who had completed them this year. At top, the scouts repeat the Boy Scout Oath (On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight) at the beginning of the retreat; Grace Fay, bottom, joins Samantha Lorenc and Katelyn Cote in reciting the Girl Scout Oath (On my honor, I will try: To serve God and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law).
