Rev. Richard Carlino, born in Troy, has served as an associate pastor at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany and as chaplain at Albany Medical Center. From 1987 to 1989, he served as an associate pastor at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park; from 1989 to 1996, he served as pastor at St. Anthony’s Church in Schenectady; from 1996 to 2001, he served as pastor at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Rotterdam; St. Mary’s/Holy Cross Churches in Schenectady from 2002 to 2009; and St. John the Evangelist of Schenectady from 2002 to the present.
“The happiest day of my life was the day Bishop Howard Hubbard ordained me to the Holy Priesthood on June 16, 1979. Since then, the good Lord has given me the sublime privilege of ministering to countless persons in various ways, sacramentally and pastorally. I am eternally grateful for my mom and dad, my brother, and many more; especially those who were members of the parishes I was assigned to. Would I recommend a vocation to others? You bet I would!”
Father Carlino will celebrate his jubilee this year on Sunday, June 16, at 5 p.m. Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church in Schenectady.
Rev. Geoffrey Burke, a native of Cohoes, has served as an associate pastor at St. Mary’s Church in Oneonta from 1979 to 1984 and St. Thomas in Delmar from 1984 to 1990. From 1990 to 1996, Father Burke served as Diocesan Priest Personnel and Chancellor from 1996 to 2000. From 1999 to the present, he’s served as pastor at Our Lady of the Assumption in Latham, and from 1990 to the present, he has served as chaplain to the Sisters of St. Joseph Provincial House in Latham.
“The blessing of priesthood allows you to be present in the most precious moments of people’s lives — from birth to death. For me, sharing the grace of the Sacraments with parishioners creates a unique bond of faith.”
Father Burke will celebrate his jubilee with a “surprise BBQ” the children of the parish have planned for him after Vacation Bible School in July.
