Rev. Francis O’Connor of the Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Americas in Albany presented Imam Dr. Abdulkadir Elmi of the Masjid As-Salam Mosque with a check for $1,000 on Saturday, June 29.
The donation came from a parish collection to assist families impacted by a fire that swept across Bradford Street in late May. The fire took place directly behind the Mosque and left almost 40 families homeless; many attend Masjid As-Salam.
Father O’Connor said the donation is “a gesture of goodwill” as well as “an expression of our faith” to help those in need.
