Students, faculty and staff at Bishop Maginn high school participated in their 6th annual Cupcake Wars to benefit Catholic Relief Services Lenten Operation Rice Bowl last week. Faculty and students picked the winners, including most beautiful, most creative and best tasting. Religion teacher Mrs. Sue Silverstein-Gilligan runs the event every year. Mrs. Silverstein-Gilligan also had her class participate in love letters to unborn babies as part of a Valentine religion class activity. She hoped that the exercise would help students identify with children still in utero as a response to the recent Reproductive Health Act.
