“The Monica Project” is underway.
After the tragic death of Sister Monica Murphy, CSJ, some former Pyramid Life Center staff members are compiling stories about Sister Monica’s life and work while they are still fresh in the minds of the many whose lives she touched. The website for the project can be accessed at the https://the
monicaproject.com.
A Facebook page, The Monica Project 2019, is also up and running.
This initiative is being spearheaded by Joe Voytus, who created the website and conceived of the project. It’s Voytus’ hope that these stories might be compiled into a small volume and be self-published and sold in the shop at Pyramid Lake and other venues in the Diocese.
Sister Monica — who was killed in a car accident on Monday, Aug. 5, while driving back to Pyramid Lake — worked in the diocesan schools for 53 years, teaching and becoming friends with generations of families, particularly at Catholic Central High School in Troy, and another 31 years at Pyramid Life Center, the diocesan retreat in the Adirondacks.
