All students and school staff members are invited to bring their backpacks, briefcases or tote bags, and their friends, to worship at St. Madeleine Sophie parish in Schenectady Sept. 29-30, which will hold its first “blessing of the backpacks" during all Masses that weekend. Students and staff will also received a blessed keepsake....

St. Ambrose  in Latham is having a parish fest Sept. 29, noon-4 p.m., with free family activities like crafts, face painting, games and an inflatable obstacle course for kids of all ages. Garden tours, school tours and a religious articles swap will also take place. Dunk tank tickets will be available for purchase, with dunk tank guest REV. BRIAN KELLY. At 3 p.m., there will be a kids-vs.-adults kickball game....

St. Thomas parish in Delmar is planning a "trunk and treat" event Oct. 21, 3-5 p.m. People can learn about ministries at St. Thomas, wear Halloween costumes and dress as favorite saints. Trunks will be decorated and offer informational handouts on ministries, a saint that relates to the ministry and a treat. It's sponsored by youth ministry core team....

St. Edward's in Clifton Park congratulates ERIN SPENCE, the recipient of the $1,500 FATHER MOONEY scholarship to Siena College in Loudonville. All youth in grades six-12 are invited to St. Edward's first "Wasting Time" event Oct. 12, 6-8 p.m., with ice-breakers, food, games and other activities for youth to "waste time" getting to know each other.
