OBITUARY
Sister Jeanne Kelly, CSJ
A funeral Mass was offered Sept. 7 in the chapel of St. Joseph’s Provincial House, Latham, for Sister Jeanne Kelly, who died Sept. 3, She was 93 and had been a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet for 74 years.
A native of Syracuse, she worked as a secretary at General Electric for two years before entering religious life and then, for 25 years, taught math and French in schools in the Albany and Syracuse Dioceses. She later had clerical and volunteer work at the Bishop Harrison Center and the Chancery in Syracuse.
Called an excellent teacher whose organizational abilities mixed with her interpersonal skills to make her a good staffer as well, Sister Jeanne was said by her religious order to have left “a lasting legacy of the influence of a caring heart.”
Interment was in Our Lady Queen of Virgins Cemetery, Latham.
