OBITUARY
Sister Valerie Paccone, CR
A funeral Mass was offered Oct. 13 at the Sisters of the Resurrection provincialate chapel, Castleton, for Sister Valerie Paccone, who died Oct. 9. She was 78 and had been a Resurrection sister for 52 years.
A native of New York City, she ministered mainly in the fields of religious formation and education. For 10 years, she served as her order’s directress of postulants and novices at the Provincialate in Castleton; she also handled communications for the Provincialate and was moderator of a “third order” group for laypeople, the Apostles of the Resurrection. In addition, she taught in Hartsdale and Yonkers, NY, and spent 19 years as a director of religious education in Howell, N.J.
Even when she became a resident of Riverside Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing (formerly a nursing home run by her order) in 2013, Sister Valerie continued her ministry of service by advocating for residents as head of the Resident Council.
Survivors include siblings Judith Corticelli, Rita Stash, Humbert Paccone and Thomas Paccone. Interment was in Resurrection Cemetery, Castleton.
