On Oct. 2, the entire student body at St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam gathered to thank the more than 20 individuals and businesses who came together in a grassroots effort to beautify the front of the school in honor of its namesake, the Blessed Mother. A ceremony led by REV. JEFFREY L’ARCHE, MM, with music by SMI students was held to dedicate a new garden and a plaque commemorating those who donated funding, materials, services and time to make the project possible, including K9 Concrete, Dave’s Landscaping, Adirondack Stump Grinding, Alteri’s Tree Service, MAK Paving, Lou’s Electric, Locust and Ridge Creative and GEVA Accounting.
