St. Joseph’s/St. Michael’s/Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish in Amsterdam has a new Eagle Scout, MICHAEL MACHOLD of Troop 5048....
At St. Thomas in Delmar, MICHAEL CONNOLLY and JOE FIERRO of Troop 58 earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Michael’s project was to photograph and upload the 2,500 graves in the Bethlehem Cemetery, which date back to 1865, to the “Billion Graves” online database. This allows people the ability to search for family members and learn where they are buried. Joe’s project was to clear out and landscape an overgrown area adjacent to the rail trail and American Legion property.
Young people and parents from St. Thomas joined in celebrating Earth Day by working on the church property. They planted shrubs and flowers and mulched the rectory flower beds. Harrigan’s Professional Lawn Services did the prep work and BARBARA LEONARD of the Creation Care Team discussed the parish’s new recycling and reuse projects....
At St. Lucy/St. Bernadette parish in Altamont, a LIGHT (Living In God’s Holiness Together) intergenerational faith formation session planned to focus on “the visitation and Mary’s song of praise, the Magnificat”.....
St. Michael’s parish in Troy announced its children’s summer programs: July 16-20, a dance and music camp; and July 30-Aug. 3, a sports and spirituality camp....
St. Jude the Apostle School in Wynantskill had its annual car show and family fun day April 28, with trophies awarded for different cars and “kids’ choice” awards....
Applications are open for the men’s association scholarship at St. Madeleine Sophie parish in Schenectady, available to any graduating parish student. The scholarship is in memory of THOMAS E. BREEDLOVE....
Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in Watervliet planned its “See You Soon Sunday” and coffee hour to conclude faith formation for the season after Mass on April 29. Children were invited to wear the parish t-shirts they’d been given last year; they served at the coffee hour and participated in games and activities....
Holy Trinity parish in Cohoes is collecting used shoes, boots, sneakers and sandals of all sizes for Harmony Hill School until May 14. Plastic tubs for donations are at the main entrances of the church and parish center....
Christian Brothers Academy in Albany hosted the inaugural Town of Colonie Cup baseball tournament on April 14. Shaker High School and Colonie High School also participated; town supervisor PAULA MAHAN threw out the first pitch....
Holy Trinity parish in Johnstown hosted a teen Mass for youth from both Holy Trinity and Holy Spirit in Gloversville.
Also, children in third-, fourth- and fifth-grade faith formation at Holy Trinity had a bake sale to benefit a regional animal shelter.
