The Catholic Schools Office of the Albany Diocese has announced the winners of its annual Higher-Powered Learning grants. Funding totaling $100,000 will be distributed among the following school projects:
• St. Mary’s Institute in Amsterdam, 3D science classroom;
• Consortium #1 (Catholic Schools Office for all schools), STEMSational resource library;
• All Saints Catholic Academy in Albany, “Equal is Not Equitable and Equitable is Not Equal;”
• Mater Christi School in Albany, student-created digital portfolios in early elementary grades;
• St. Clement’s School in Saratoga, “Going Paperless…It’s Elementary;”
• Consortium #2 (Blessed Sacrament School and Mater Christi School in Albany and Holy Spirit School in East Greenbush), Stages on the Sound consortium grant;
• Consortium #3 (St. Mary’s/St. Alphonsus School in Glens Falls, St. Clement’s in Saratoga, St. Mary’s in Ballston Spa and Saratoga Central Catholic), North Country Catholic school outreach/news;
• Blessed Sacrament School in Albany, Chromebooks;
• St. Mary’s/St. Alphonsus School in Glens Falls, “Where Does Our Food Come From;”
• St. Mary’s School in Waterford, “Marketspace for 21st-Century Learning;”
• Saratoga Central Catholic School, Chromebooks for middle-school students;
• St. Thomas the Apostle School in Delmar, outdoor early childhood learning environment;
• St. Jude the Apostle School in Wynantskill, community collaboration and infrastructure upgrades.
The program, which is in its sixth year, gets a good response and was deemed “quite competitive.” Each winning school will receive a grant check at a superintendent’s conference day Sept. 4 at Christ our Light parish in Loudonville.
