St. Edward’s Hosanna charismatic prayer group in Clifton Park meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. for song, praise and sharing. Anyone wishing intercessory prayer for healing or special needs can come at the start of the meeting when members of the group will pray with them privately, after which they can stay for the meeting or leave....

REV. SCOTT VANDERVEER of St. Patrick’s parish in Ravena and St. Mary’s in Coxsackie noted “something very touching” that happened between the two parishes: A member of St. Mary’s parish asked if he could be a member of the St. Patrick’s 100th anniversary committee. (St. Patrick’s began as a mission of St. Mary’s in the 1850s and was established as an independent parish in 1890.) The St. Mary’s community life committee, which for many years has sponsored a St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage dinner, suggested that, since Patrick is Ravena’s patron saint and since this is their  anniversary year, the dinner could be held this year in Ravena and involve a cooperative effort between the two parishes.

“Do you realize how beautiful a gesture like that is? Would you like to celebrate this incredible sister-parish relationship?” asked Father VanDerveer. “Please come to the dinner after the 4:30 Mass March 17 at St. Patrick’s parish center in Ravena. Because that’s what sisters do.”

St. Patrick’s in Ravena is also asking parishioners to save the date for a June 10, 4 p.m., Mass celebrating the anniversary of the first Mass at St. Patrick’s in its new church....

St. Mary’s parish in Glens Falls, Our Lady of the Assumption in Queensbury and St. Michael’s in South Glens Falls announced two new Knights of Columbus: REV. DESMOND ROSSI, parochial vicar at St. Mary’s; and TIM DUFFY from OLA. “Call 518-792-1667 to learn how to become a knight,” the K of C noted....

St. Michael’s parish in Cohoes thanked ED TWISS for his dedicated volunteer work on the church bulletin for the past 10 years. St. Michael’s also wished a happy belated birthday to MARY SAVAGE, who turned 100 years old on Feb. 26....

St. John’s in Greenville announced that parishioner JOSEPHINE SCHERMER turned 100. Parishioners were trying to send her 100 birthday cards. There was a party March 25 at the Greenville Public Library. St. John’s also congratulated BILL HOTTER, named 2017 “Legionnaire of the Year” by Greenville American Legion Post 291....

Holy Trinity parish in Cohoes thanked REV. RICK TESTA, a retired priest who was part of the parish for more than a year. At 85 years old, he celebrated Mass every Friday morning and led adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Due to health reasons, he had to move into assisted living in Connecticut. The morning Mass group took him to breakfast to let him know how much they care about him.

Holy Trinity parish also noted that REV. LAWRENCE MCTAVEY, retired priest who serves at the parish, lost his sister, KATHLEEN, March 5 at age 91....
St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph’s parish in Rensselaer announced that JOE CURRO retired as superintendent of Holy Sepulchre Cemetery after more than 18 years, succeeded by DON TERRY. BRIAN REYNOLDS is the new custodian....

St. Mary’s parish in Nassau announced the loss of two long-time parishioners: PATRICIA KILLEEN was 91; BETTY BOREY, 92. The latter was a lector almost to the end of her life....

LUCY AND HOLLIS STRAUT installed a railing by the steps of the church sanctuary at Sacred Heart in Margaretville for REV. GREGORY WEIDER’S benefit, and the parish thanked him for “breathing new life” into the community. He’s continuing to minister there through May....

St. Mary’s in Granville noted that the former All Saints parish property has been sold. The faith formation program can be accommodated in the current parish hall....

On April 28, 7:30 p.m., choirs from Immaculate Conception parish in Glenville, First Presbyterian Church in Glens Falls and the Burnt Hills Oratorio Society will sing “Requiem” by JOHN RUTTER at Immaculate Conception parish. Immaculate Conception par­ish in Glenville is once again announcing the $2,000 CLAR­ENCE NEUMANN scholarship, sponsored by the Glenville Knights of Columbus, for a graduating high school student entering college this fall. Entries are judged on community service, extracurricular activities, academics and an applicant’s written statement. Applications are due April 30....

On April 21, 7 p.m., Our Lady of Grace parish in Ballston Lake will host “The Progression Ensemble,” consisting of musicians ROCCO JERRY, MICHAEL RONSTADT and ERIC DESPARD playing accordion, cello and guitar. Their music will be paired with ‘live-code’ computer graphics by internationally-acclaimed video artist SHAWN LAWSON. Norwegian composer BJORN BOLSTAD SKJELBRED will host the concert and a discussions. A free-will offering will benefit the parish....
