MARRIAGE
Who loves ya, baby?
Today, family life often includes two jobs, home duties, children's school and other activities, eldercare, church involvement and volunteer work. Who has time to romance their spouse? Yet despite challenges, the majority of couples say they have good marriages. Try answering the following questions to gauge your intimacy.
Do you have as much fun as you did early on? Do you talk about things other than the children, your jobs or what needs to be done around the house? When was the last time you talked about your hopes and dreams for the future? When was the last time you went on a romantic date? When was the last time you went away for a weekend together?
So how did you do? Your marriage may be on the back burner. This is an all too common occurrence in today's society.
Life is very busy and something ultimately gets relegated to non-priority status. We all have reasons we are too busy to take time for our relationship. But don't let those excuses keep you from reconnecting with your mate.
Wouldn't you like to talk to each other about things other than work, children, parents or repairs? Wouldn't you like to bring romance back into your relationship? A Marriage Encounter Weekend encourages you to do just that.
The weekend is for married couples of all ages, stages and faiths who love each other. It is a unique opportunity to bring newness back into your marriage.
This experience is both positive and private - no group sharing required. There is no better gift to give this Valentine's Day that tells your spouse, "Who loves ya the most, baby?"
(The Reisingers, local leaders for Marriage Encounter, live in Guilderland and attend St. Gabriel's parish in Rotterdam.)
(A Marriage Encounter Weekend will happen March 20-22 in Cooperstown. For questions, information or to register, please call Ed and Rhonda Staats at (518) 279-3243.)[[In-content Ad]]
