WHEN YOU'RE LAUGHED AT

PRAYER FOR THE WEEK
Jesus, help me "stand in my truth," even if people laugh at me. Amen!

A man begged Jesus, "My daughter is dying. Please, come save her." Jesus went, but when they got there, the girl had died. Jesus asked everyone, "Why are you crying? The girl is not dead; she's just sleeping." They laughed at Him, but He took her hand and said, "Little girl, get up!" And the girl sat up, alive and well again.

Everyone's been laughed at sometime. You say something and other kids or adults don't believe you, and they laugh.

Sometimes, they're laughing in a nice way, because they like you and they just think you're mistaken. Other times, they're laughing in a mean way, because they think you're crazy and totally wrong.

Even Jesus was laughed at. He was famous and could do miracles, but people still heard some things He said and just laughed -- and not in a nice way! They thought He was really weird and that what He said could not possibly be true.

That's what happens in this week's Gospel (Mark 5:21-43). Jesus is asked to cure a sick girl, but everyone thinks it's too late. He claims she's not dead, and everyone laughs. Then He does cure the girl.

Whether you're right or wrong and whether people laugh at you, the truth always comes out in the end. If you're saying something you believe to be true, what's important is that you stand in your truth. Don't let other people's laughter change what's true for you.

Jesus stood in His truth. People laughed at the idea that someone who had died was "only sleeping," but Jesus knew that He was the Son of God and could bring her back. To others, she might be dead; for Jesus, anything was possible. He stuck to what He knew was true -- and healed the girl.

It's easier to laugh at someone than to be patient and wait for the truth to come out. But sometimes, the truth can surprise us. Don't worry about being laughed at; focus on what's true![[In-content Ad]]
