What I find at my table

Many objects spark my faith. The table is a very important object to me. It is where my family is nourished. It is where we come together for holidays. It's where we learn and love and listen. The table is important to Jesus, too.

The table is where I am nourished and fed. After my parents come home from work, my family works together to prepare both the table and dinner. After it's all ready, we sit and say Grace. Then we eat the great food which God gives us. Food is very important for people; it makes them strong and healthy. Just as food is important for us, so also is prayer, and at my table we are nourished by both.

My family is very important to me. I am the second youngest in my family. I have five brothers, three of whom live away from home. The family is always excited when the whole family comes together. I love my family, and I believe that God has given me my special table so that we can be together.

I hold a special place in my heart for my special table. Jesus also knew the importance of the table. At the Last Supper, Jesus came to the table, broke bread, blessed it and shared it with His friends. Jesus used an ordinary table to hold the bread and wine that He turned into His extraordinary body and blood. The table Jesus used was special, just as mine is special.

My table is very special to me, because of what happens when people gather around it. I am a better person because of the nourishing food I eat at it, the warm family I have at it, and because in my heart I know Jesus is there with us at my table, extending Eucharist to us.
